Not all members of the Bridgerton clan got their happily ever after at the end of the first season of the runaway hit, but cast members are promising a steamy new plot in the upcoming season.
An exclusive first look of the second season of the Netflix smash was released on Saturday, giving fans a glimpse of what is to come in the Regency-era show.

While Regé-Jean Page’s Duke of Hastings will no longer be on the show, his blushing bride Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) will be back for the second season, which will focus on her older brother Anthony’s love life.
In the first season of the program, the eldest of the Bridgerton siblings, played by Jonathan Bailey, tried to balance his responsibilities to take over as Viscount with his secret love of an opera singer who had no desire to live in his world.
Now, in the second season of the show, Anthony will face a new foil in newcomer Kate Sharma. Portrayed by Simone Ashley (Sex Education, Broadchurch), Kate will come to town with her family and quickly get embroiled in the goings-on of society, reports Today.
“My mom and I, we love Jane Austen novels and I never ever imagined that someone who looked like me would be in those outfits in a show like that. For it to happen, I just couldn't believe it,” said Ashley.

During Netflix’s fan event “Tudum,” Bailey said that his character “gets to deal with a lot of things that I think he hasn’t been given space to deal with” in the upcoming season.
Ashley shared that her character’s family “feel very much like outsiders, and the Bridgertons and the Featheringtons are like the core ton, and the Sharmas, they feel like, almost like if the audience who watched season one were kind of put in.”
She continued, musing that she feels “like the Sharmas kind of represent the audience in that way.”
As for how Kate and Anthony will interact? Bailey said to expect “volatility” and that the storyline between the two is “very passionate.”
Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington on the show, chimed in, noting that “it’s great seeing someone like Kate being able to stand up to Anthony and him not knowing how to deal with that.”
