According to Variety, Lopez filed for divorce from the actor on August 20 in Los Angeles County with the official separation date listed as April 26. The split comes just a few years after the couple melted hearts re-kindling their romance, which initially sparked in the early 2000s when they first met on the set of their movie, Gigli, in 2002.

Famous for their iconic hybrid couple name, “Bennifer,” the pair were #couplegoals as they dated, got engaged, and started planning their wedding in less than a year. The media attention began to take a toll on the pair, who revealed in September 2003 they’d be postponing their highly-anticipated wedding citing the intense media attention as the reason why.

After months rolled by, the couple split completely and broke off their engagement in January of 2004. Both went on to find new partners and eventually wed them. J-Lo married Marc Anthony in June 2004 while Affleck wed Jennifer Garner a year later in June 2005.

After 10 years of marriage to Anthony, J-Lo called it quits and Affleck’s divorce from Garner followed just 4 years later in October 2018.

Fast forward to 2021, rumors started to swirl of Ben and Jen re-kindling their romance and Bennifer lovers worldwide started to go crazy. The couple went Instagram official in July 2021 and nine months later, the couple got engaged for the second time.

Ben and Jen made it down the aisle this time just 3 months after their engagement. Initially tying the knot in Las Vegas with their kids as witnesses, the couple threw a big party the next month in Georgia to celebrate with their closest family and friends, which was followed by a romantic, Italian honeymoon for the newlyweds.

After going strong for nearly two years, speculation started to swirl as fans noticed in February 2024 the pair hadn’t been photographed together for nearly 50 days. It was clear there was trouble in paradise come June when Affleck was seen moving his belongings out of the couple’s home. At the time, a source told PEOPLE, the couple had recently began the process of “moving on separately."

Come present day, according to reports, Jennifer officially filed for divorce from Affleck on the two-year anniversary of their wedding celebration with family and friends in Georgia.

According to a source of PEOPLE, J-Lo "tried really hard to make things work, and is heartbroken.”
