You may not think rocker and "Master of Horror" Rob Zombie would be into the campy comedy of the mid-sixties CBS hit The Munsters but apparently, he is and he's got plans for a movie reboot.

The Munsters Movie is now rumored to be headed straight to streaming as a Peacock exclusive, with the possibility of it seeing a wider release in theaters on release day courtesy of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

Zombie is apparently a huge fan of the short-lived series. He joined the actor who played Eddie Munster, Butch Patrick, on a commentary track for the flick Munster, Go Home! released on Blu-ray last year. He's also been known by fans to cover the show's theme song live, while arguably his most well-known solo track, "Dragula," is a direct reference to Grandpa Munster's coffin-shaped drag racer "DRAG-U-LA."

"Production on the film is currently set to begin in Budapest in early May," Murphy's Universe reported on the project last month. "Two of Zombie’s usual suspects have been cast as leads in the comedy, with Jeff Daniel Phillips set as Herman Munster and Zombie's wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, set as Lily Munster." It's not known at this time if Rob Zombie, known for helming such brutal flicks as House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, will be continuing to lay waste to our dreams with his special style of creepiness with this new project. Although, a dark and disturbing twist to the Munster family story sounds like interesting nightmare fuel. Isn't that right Lily? Lily..? LILY, NO!!!
