Whether you registered for this morning's wake-up call or not, Green Day's brand new single "The American Dream Is Killing Me," the first track from their upcoming 14th studio album, 'Saviors,' has officially arrived. Perfect timing amid the band's Dookie 30th anniversary celebrations.
The album is set for release on January 19, 2024 and was produced with Rob Cavallo, who was at the helm for both Dookie and American Idiot.
“The American Dream Is Killing Me” was one of the last tracks written and recorded by Green Day for Saviors, according to a release. “As soon we cut it, we said, `Okay, that’s going first,’” explained Billie Joe Armstrong. According to the singer the song is “a look at the way the traditional American Dream doesn’t work for a lot of people -- in fact, it’s hurting a lot of people.”
Along with an awesome set of performances in Las Vegas over the When We Were Young weekend of October 21 + 22 -- which included the live debut of the brand new single at a secret show -- frontman Billie Joe Armstrong also revealed to fans in attendance that they would be hitting the road with The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and The Linda Lindas in 2024.
