Alex Bregman leaves game with leg injury

The latest round of discomfort for the Red Sox came in the fifth inning of their game against the Orioles Friday afternoon.

With two outs, Alex Bregman rifled a single that one-hopped the left field wall. After rounding first base, the third baseman put on the brakes and scampered back to the bag. He proceeded to immediately tell the dugout that a pinch-runner was needed, with Bregman ultimately limping down in the tunnel with the assistance of the team's training staff and manager Alex Cora.

Update: The team announced that Bregman had left the game with right quad tightness.

Bregman has arguably been the Red Sox Most Valuable Player this season, coming into Friday's doubleheader with the third-best OPS in the American League (.935).

Abraham Toro came on to pinch-run for Bregman and ultimately moved to first base, with Nick Sogard sliding over to third base.
