The Patriots revealed this year's three finalists for the Patriots Hall of Fame on Tuesday, and it would be hard to argue with any of the three. Vince Wilfork, Mike Vrabel and Logan Mankins are all deserving and will all surely end up in the Hall at some point.
One former Patriot seems ready to argue for himself, though. Asante Samuel took to Twitter shortly after the announcement to question why he had been omitted.
Samuel seems to be of the belief that Bill Belichick -- whom Samuel has been critical of over the years -- is the one choosing the finalists, which is not how any of this works.
In reality, the three finalists are chosen by an 18-person committee that's made up of media, alumni and staff. Fans then vote on which of the three will ultimately be enshrined.
Samuel spent five seasons with the Patriots from 2003-07, winning two Super Bowls during that time. He was an All-Pro in 2007, but many Patriots fans remember his 2007 season more for his dropped interception in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLII that could have sealed the perfect 19-0 season. Eli Manning and David Tyree connected on "The Helmet Catch" on the next play and the Giants went on to win.
In recent years, Samuel has carved out a bit of a niche for himself as a former Patriot who's critical of Belichick. He said last August that Belichick is "just another coach" without Tom Brady.
