Brad Marchand has logged on. While the Bruins star tends to go months without tweeting at this point in his career, he has slowly ramped up his Twitter activity in recent weeks, culminating with a couple tweets on Wednesday going after Toronto media ahead of Wednesday night's Bruins-Maple Leafs game.

It appears the catalyst was a question Marchand got asked during his media availability Wednesday morning about one of Marchand's recent tweets.

Over the weekend, Marchand responded to a tweet from an Arizona reporter regarding an incident between Anaheim forward Trevor Zegras and Arizona defenseman Troy Stecher by telling the reporter (Craig Morgan) to "shut your pie hole."

It actually seems pretty fair to ask Marchand about the tweet given that his intention wasn't entirely clear. The situation in question didn't involve the Bruins at all, although the Bruins did recently have their own incident with Zegras when his trash talk led to a scrum during their game in Anaheim on Jan. 8.

The Hockey News' Jacob Stoller tweeted out his exchange with Marchand from Wednesday, with Marchand rather harmlessly dodging the question. Stoller concluded the tweet with his take on the answer: "Weird."

And that's when Marchand took to Twitter, sarcastically apologizing to Stoller, offering to give a different answer, and telling him, "Great reporting this am!!"

Another member of the Toronto media, popular Leafs Youtuber Steve "Dangle" Glynn jumped in, telling Marchand to "relax." That prompted this response:

In another tweet on Tuesday night, Marchand acknowledged that he has given up on his campaign for the Lady Byng Trophy (for "sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct"), so perhaps trash-talking Marchand is back.

It seems that Marchand was feeling it in general on Wednesday, as he also took a shot at Mitchell Marner's skates while otherwise heaping strong praise on the Leafs forward.

Anyways, Wednesday night should be fun.
