Celtics have the defensive backcourt to match Dallas

Jon Lyons and KJ Carson were on WEEI on Sunday and spent much of their show previewing the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks. One area the two spent time on was the matchup between the elite offensive guards that Dallas has, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, and the elite defensive guards the Celtics have, Derrick White and Jrue Holiday.

“Derrick White is going to be really important in this series because he’s going to end up defending Kyrie or Luka quite a bit. I’m sure they’ll switch things up a bit as well and have Jaylen Brown and Jrue Holiday spend time on those guys as well,” Lyons said.

Added KJ: “There are going to be some times that you rotate Tatum on Luka. That length (of Tatum) is going to be a problem for Luka especially for his turnaround or fadeaway shots, especially later in the game when fatigue sets in.”
