Payton Pritchard is sticking around at least a few more years. As first reported by ESPN's Shams Charania, Pritchard and the Boston Celtics have agreed to a two-year, $44.2 million contract extension that locks him up at least through the 2028-29 season. The deal also includes a mutual option for the 2029-30 season.

The 28-year-old guard has spent his entire six-year NBA career in Boston since being drafted 26th overall in the 2020 draft. He helped the Celtics win the NBA championship in 2024 and was named the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year for the 2024-25 season.

After only starting 17 games in his first five years combined, Pritchard made 50 starts last season and played 79 games overall while posting career highs in minutes (32.4 per game), points (17 per game) and assists (5.2 per game).

Pritchard could be in line for an even bigger role this season following the offseason departure of Jaylen Brown. Whether it's as a starter or sixth man, this contract extension locks Pritchard in as a key part of the Celtics' core through Jayson Tatum's prime years.
