Perhaps management at Gillette Stadium caught wind of their ranking as just the 23rd best stadium experience in the NFL and said, “Hold my expensive draught beer.”
Fans of bigger is better will be pleased to see an enormous new screen -- (do we call them jumbotrons anymore?) -- being installed in the south end zone of Gillette Stadium, just underneath the six Super Bowl champion banners. The scoreboard looks to be approximately twice the size of the previous screen, and early reactions from fans in attendance of New England Revolution games seem to be pretty positive thus far.
The screen has been used traditionally during Patriots games for replays and highlights. It will be curious to see how much it enhances the in-game experience for fans, or distracts the players on the field. Concert-goers and those in attendance for other events should certainly enjoy the enhanced video experience.
For those wondering where the largest video screen in the NFL you can find it at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, a 360 foot double sided 4K screen. SoFi is home to Super Bowl 56. The Patriots are scheduled to visit SoFi when they play the Chargers on October 31st. If they’re lucky they’ll see it twice this season? One can dream.
Patriots fans will first get to see the screen in action in-game Aug. 12 when the Pats host the Washington Football Team to open the 2021 preseason.
