Quarterback Kyler Murray went down with a non-contact leg injury while scrambling on the third play of the game. Murray crumpled to the ground as he cut to avoid a defender and stayed down for several minutes before being carted off the field.

Players from both teams came to console an emotional Murray, who threw his towel over his head. The team initially listed him as questionable to return with a knee injury, but later ruled him out.

Backup Colt McCoy relieved Murray and led a drive into Patriots territory, but Matt Prater missed a field goal attempt that would’ve put the Cardinals up 3-0. The score remained tied at zero after drives by each team.
