Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi, was none too pleased with the officiating in Super Bowl LV.
Following the Chiefs’ 31-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs, Randi voiced her frustration on Twitter by criticizing the refs in a tweet that tagged Tom Brady’s wife, Gisele Bundchen.
“If you have to have the ref on your team is that really winning!!!” she wrote.
The officiating became a major storyline of the game, with the Chiefs drawing 11 total penalties for 120 yards compared to the Bucs’ four penalties for 39 yards.
One play in particular, a defensive holding call that negated a Brady interception in the second quarter, caused some outrage on social media, so perhaps Mrs. Mahomes may have had a point.
Bundchen, meanwhile, did not tweet at all during the game or respond to Randi, so it’s unclear why she was tagged in the tweet instead of Brady himself.
Of course, Bundchen has been on the other side as well, ripping Brady’s teammates after losing Super Bowl XLVI to the Giants, lamenting that her husband “can’t f---ing throw and catch the ball.”
Randi’s tweet was a bit tamer, and went after the refs and not her son’s teammates. Although it seems like all is good between the Mahomes and Brady families after Randi met Tom’s parents after the game.
