The Red Sox have made their first trade of the 2022 season.
The Sox announced they cut a trade with the Phillies Saturday, acquiring relief pitcher James Norwood in exchange for cash considerations.
The 28-year-old has pitched in 48 major league games, last appearing for the Phillies on June 12. In 20 games with Philadelphia this season, Norwood has compiled an 8.31 ERA.
His go-to pitch is a fastball that averages 96.6 mph, throwing the offering slightly more than a split-fingered fastball he throws 41 percent of the time.
Norwood is out of options.
