The starters for the 2021 All-Star rosters didn't hold many surprises. But the reserves are sure to have plenty of fan bases riled up.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the reserves for the West include Paul George, Zion Williamson and the injured Anthony Davis, while the East was represented by names such as James Harden, Ben Simmons and Celtics star duo Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Charania notes that the West reserves will receive a replacement player in the event — the likely event, I should say — that Anthony Davis does not play in the All-Star Game.
These names will join the starting lineups, which are as follows:
East
Frontcourt: Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid
Backcourt: Bradley Beal, Kyrie Irving
West
Frontcourt: LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, Kawhi Leonard
Backcourt: Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic
For players like Julius Randle, Zach LaVine and Zion Williamson, the 2021 All-Star Game in Atlanta will be their first nod along with the league's best. For players like Utah Jazz point guard Mike Conley, on the other hand, they may have missed their best (and last) chance at making it to an All-Star team.
The All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, March 7 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Durant and James will draft their respective rosters from the starters and reserves available based on the voting.
