Taylor Heinicke wasn't mentioned a lot when it came to becoming the next Patriots quarterback. But he was mentioned.
No longer.
The Washington QB -- who put himself on the radar of those teams seeking viable signal-callers with a standout postseason performance against the Buccaneers -- has been locked up by WFT, eliminating the option of free agency.
The 27-year-old was an intriguing option for the Patriots, who carried Heinicke on their practice roster for three weeks in 2017. He took advantage of his opportunity when Alex Smith wasn't available to go against the Bucs in first round of this year's postseason, passing for 306 yards and rushing for another 46.
Heinicke was undrafted coming out of Old Dominion 2015.
