The Country icon recently released his 76th solo, studio album, Last Leaf on the Tree, and upon talking to the Associated Press revealed it’s not the “last” of anything if up to him. “I’m not worried about it [death],” he shared. “I don’t feel bad. I don’t hurt anywhere. I don’t have any reason to worry about dying. But I don’t know anybody who’s lived forever.”
He continued, “I take pretty good care of myself. And I feel like I’m in pretty good shape physically. Mentally? That’s another story,” he laughed.
While he feels good, reality is not lost on the Texas native, who, when asked how he wants to be remembered shared, “I had a good time. And I did what I came here to do: make music.”
That’s exactly what he’s continued to do as he released, Last Leaf on the Tree, which marks his second studio album this year, 76th solo, studio album and 153rd album overall. So how many more does he have in him?
According to Nelson he’s already completed his next project and hopes for “a few more’ after that.
“I don’t know. I hope there’s a few more.” 200? “Why not?!”
