"I had no intention of writing, or singing, or recording in a studio ever again," Billy Joel says of his surprise 2024 release. "It was one of the first times I've heard my voice back and I said, 'That's a pretty good vocal!' I was convinced, maybe this could be a new single."
The 6-time GRAMMY-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Kennedy Center honoree first teased fans about the new track after making his debut on TikTok, and today he delivers a classic Billy Joel-style single featuring his signature sound and ushering in the next chapter of his story. Produced by GRAMMY-nominated songwriter and producer Freddy Wexler and written by Wexler, Arthur Bacon, Wayne Hector, and Joel -- Billy asks in the lyrics, “Did I wait too long… to turn the lights back on?”
