HAVERTOWN, Pa. (KYW Newsradio)Jason Kelce has made an indelible mark in Philadelphia history, professional football lore, and the hearts and minds of Eagles fans — but perhaps his most colorful contribution is now visible in a mural on his favorite Delco Dunkin’ Donuts.

“It’s kind of a tribute to Jason and his legacy here in Philadelphia, and being a star athlete, a Super Bowl champion — just honoring his spirit and his retirement,” said Jimmy McMenamin, the artist behind the work.

Although he was not there in person for the mural’s unveiling, Kelce’s presence was felt when the cloth came down from the 10” x 12” image.

“From an artistic point of view I wanted it to be lively, bright, kind of represent him and his bubbly authentic self,” McMenamin said.

Lou Silvestri from Glenolden, a lifelong Eagles fan and a longtime Kelce fan, came out for the mural’s unveiling at West Chester Pike and Country Club Lane in Havertown.

“The portrait of him, himself — the stare going on, the haircut, the colors they used here — it’s just super impressive and intense,” he said.

Dave Garrison of Havertown said, although Kelce was not born and raised in the area, he feels like a hometown guy, and it’s good to see him honored as such.

“He’s one of us, by all means. You can tell by how he’s acted throughout his career: approachable, nice, and just does stuff for charity and the community. Just a great guy.”

Garrison says he hopes he’ll run into the Eagle’s legend one day and buy him a cup of coffee.

Dunkin’ officials, who also donated $13,000 to Kelce’s nonprofit foundation (Be)Philly, say this is just their small way of honoring him — $1,000 for each year he played for the Eagles.
