PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — That’s one way to earn extra credit.

A Villanova University student is being praised by police for helping them arrest a wanted man.

It happened last week when a Radnor Township officer pulled over a driver on Lancaster Avenue. While running the Coatesville man’s information, the system revealed he was wanted by several police departments.

The man made a run for it over the Norristown High Speed Line tracks — and that’s when Phil Sandor stepped in.

The Villanova senior was in traffic on Lancaster Avenue and saw what was going on, so he offered the police officer a ride to the other side of the tracks. Police were able to catch up to the suspect and arrest him.

Radnor police held a ceremony to recognize Sandor with a certificate of appreciation for his assistance, calling it an “act of valuable community service.”

If his Villanova “finance degree doesn’t work out, we are always looking for good officers,” the police department shared on Facebook.
