Just as everyone hoped, a debate over what the definition of a catch is was ignited during the Super Bowl.

With the Eagles trying to get in position for some points shortly before halftime, Jalen Hurts took a shot down the sideline at DeVonta Smith. The second-year wideout reeled the pass in as Chiefs corner L'Jarius Sneed attempted to make a play on the ball.
It looked as though Smith had caught the ball, and the initial ruling on the field was a catch. But after a lengthy delay, the ball looked like it was jostled loose as he hit the ground and the call was overturned.
Adding to the confusion, at one point during the review players began moving down the field as though the call was being confirmed. A few moments later, they started moving back towards midfield.
Had the call been upheld, the Eagles would have been just outside Kansas City’s 10-yard line with 54 seconds left to play. They ultimately settled for a Jake Elliott field goal to go ahead 24-14.
