Joel Embiid seems more focused than ever entering his age 31, ninth NBA season, saying he lost 25 to 30 pounds this offseason and hopes to lose even more.
“I still got a ways to go, still want to lose more," Embiid said on Monday's Sixers media day. "We got to do whatever it takes to make sure that in the postseason I am healthy. There’s no agenda, no All-Star, no All-NBA.”
The Sixers enter 2024-25 with monstrous expectations after adding star free-agent Paul George forming a big three with Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
“I think we’ll be really good," George said on Monday. "I would be hopeful that we’re one of the best teams in the NBA. Top three in the East for sure. I think we should be able to compete for a championship.”
