Giglio on Embiid: 'Ramping back up from what?'

The Philadelphia 76ers have listed both Joel Embiid and Paul George out for tomorrow's season opener at home against the Milwaukee Bucks, saying that Embiid "is expected to ramp up his return to play activities this week."

"I don't believe the Sixers," Joe Giglio said on Tuesday's 94WIP Midday Show reacting to the news. "Ramping back up from what? He played in the Olympics.

"Also, they're not being honest," he continued. "They slow played this as if he might play. Obviously, he wasn't playing in the opener."

The Sixers added Embiid will also miss the second game of the season on Friday and will be re-evaluated this weekend. He has not scrimmaged yet in practice this offseason after playing in the Olympics this summer.

Sixers reported Kyle Neubeck asked head coach Nick Nurse to explain Embiid not being ready to play in a game.

“I don’t know what to say to you, he’s in practice. He’s looking good," Nurse said. "He’s progressing, he’s not quite ready yet…I don’t know what else to say.”

George, 34, was the team's big free-agency acquisition. George suffered a knee sprain in the team's preseason game last week. He was diagnosed with a bone bruise.
