Jack Fritz is flying high, as he was mentioned by Karl Ravech and David Cone during ESPN's broadcast of Game 1 of the NL Wildcard series between the Phillies and Marlins.
"That was a weird one, didn't see that one coming," Fritz said on the 94WIP High Hopes special postgame show on Tuesday night. "Listen, let's get this out of the way. Very cool, shout out to Ravey, me and my good close friend Karl Ravech and obviously David Cone. It's a weird, but the Phillies one and that is all that matters and Zack Wheeler was freakin' brilliant man."
During Trea Turner 7th-inning plate appearance, Karl Ravech and David Cone mentioned Fritz when discussing the August 4th standing ovation he received at Citizens Bank Park.
"Whoever that radio producer was that came up with that idea to cheer this guy when he was struggling, he gets a ring, or something," Cone said on the ESPN broadcast, referring to Trea Turner's standing ovation back in August.
"Everyone acknowledges that Jack Fritz, apparently it was his idea," Ravech said.
Turner went 2-3 with a double, a walk, and a stolen base in first playoff game as a Phillie.
