Jay Sirianni is making one thing clear about his brother Nick's personality: it's not just for the cameras.

The Eagles head coach has helped push Philly to the next level in just his second year running the show, and now a Super Bowl matchup with the Chiefs awaits. Throughout the season as the Eagles got increased attention, so too did Sirianni.

Comments he made were picked at and actions on the sidelines – like his nodding at the camera – were criticized. Plenty have taken the stance that he’s embracing Philadelphia, while others contend that it’s for show.

His brother, Jay, told “The Extra Point with Sal Capaccio & Joe DiBiase” on Thursday that Nick is being genuine.

“That’s Nick,” Jay Sirianni said. “One of the things I’m most proud of Nick is he hasn’t changed. That’s him, that’s his personality. In the summer we’ll be in my backyard playing Kan Jam, and you should hear some of the trash talking that takes place. It’s no different, we compete. His personality is infectious, he’s not afraid to show it.”

With all the success the Eagles have had this season, it’s hard to push back against how Sirianni has handled most things.

That wasn’t the case in 2021, when the Eagles showed some promise but had a largely underwhelming campaign. Sirianni was mocked a few times for comments he made, most notably an admission that he compared the Eagles to a flower that had “growth under the soil,” even though the results had not yet arrived.

Turns out, Sirianni’s metaphor was right. Even in the moment though, Jay Sirianni said his brother had no regrets.

“Last year, the whole flower thing,” Jay Sirianni said. “When he made that analogy and he was getting ripped by people, I talked to him and said ‘Nick, stop telling the media all these things.’ He said you know what, that’s me. That’s who I am, and I’m not going to hide who I am.

“I respected that, and I understood after he said that. He doesn't hide it, that’s who he is. And people might not like that, but he’s genuine, and I will give him that. He hasn’t changed.”
