The Bills and Eagles are two of the best teams in the NFL. Buffalo is coming off a 27-17 win against the Packers on Sunday night to move to 6-1 on the season. Philadelphia kept its perfect record intact with another dominant victory to improve to 7-0 on the season.
Currently, these two teams are the odds-on favorites to win their respective conferences. The Chiefs are a strong contender in the AFC as well, but the Eagles seem to be the team to beat in the NFC.
So, how do these teams stack up?
Danny Parkins and Andrew Fillipponi of the Audacy Original Podcast “1st & Pod” talked about what a game between the Bills and Eagles may look like.
“If the Super Bowl was in two weeks and it was Bills - Eagles, neutral field, who do you like? And what’s the spread?” Parkins asked (6:59 in player above).
“Bills. I think they’re probably a 6.5-point favorite,” Fillipponi said. “Philly impressed me (Sunday). They had really only had two games where they stomped a mudhole in teams. That was that Monday nighter against the (Vikings) and the game against Washington where they turned Carson Wentz into a pumpkin. Short of that, they had great quarters or stretches, and then they would let teams get back into the game.”
The Eagles’ 35-13 win on Sunday was their biggest margin of victory this season. They limited the Vikings and Commanders to seven and eight points in back-to-back weeks earlier in the season, but only scored 24 points themselves. This was an impressive showing against Pittsburgh and they didn’t hold back.
“They had Jason Kelce wearing a Halloween costume on the sidelines. They know they’re good. They got a swagger to them,” Fillipponi continued. “A.J. Brown’s mocking guys after he’s Mossing them.”
The Birds are the only undefeated team remaining and it doesn’t look like they’ll lose anytime soon with primetime games against Houston and Washington in the next two weeks.
“My thing with them is what’s their weakness? They can run the ball. They can pass the ball. They can defend the pass. They can get after the quarterback. What type of team would you say is the team that’s going to beat them? I guess try to win a shootout?” Parkins said.
Offensively, the Eagles are third in the NFL (and first in the NFC) with 395.4 yards per game and 28 points per game. They’re in the top 10 in both passing and rushing yards per game as well.
On the defensive side of things, Philadelphia allows the fourth-fewest yards per game (298.1), points per game (16.9), and passing yards per game (183.4). They allow 114.7 rushing yards per game, but that still ranks in the top half of the league.
“I could see them running on Buffalo. They run the hell out of the ball. They got an awesome offensive line,” Parkins continued. “6.5 is a big number, man.
“Buffalo is a challenge for anybody, but Philly’s secondary is awesome and their pass rush is awesome, and Josh Allen throws balls that are interceptable a few times a game, and Philly comes down with them. I feel like the Eagles would keep him on the sideline. I would take the Eagles +6.5 right now.”
