Beloved Internet sensation Lil Bub has passed away at the age of 8.
According to her owners, Bub had been battling a "persistent and aggressive bone infection".
Lil Bub was rescued in 2011 by her owner after she and her siblings and feral mother were found in a tool shed in Indiana. Lil Bub was the runt of the litter and was diagnosed with multiple genetic anomolies that meant she would need extra help throughout her life. However, those same anomolies are what skyrocketed her to Internet fame where she garnered 2.4 million followers on Instagram.
This year we also lost Grumpy Cat (whose real name was Tardar Sauce) who died in May. It's been a rough year for Internet famous cats and honestly it makes me very, very sad.
