Joshua Yabut, who made headlines in 2018 after he drove an armored personnel vehicle though downtown Richmond during a police chase, has been found not guilty by reason of insanity.

In June 2018 he stole an armored personnel vehicle from Fort Pickett in Blackstone which resulted in a police chase that led them all the way to downtown Richmond. The pursuit ended in the middle of Broad Street near City Hall. He was charged with felony unauthorized use of a motor vehicle for that incident.

Four months later Yabut violated the conditions of his bond by taking an unauthorized flight out of the country and researching bomb-making. (WTF????)

He will return to Central State Hospital for continued monitoring and evaluations.
