RADIO.COM's Katie Neal welcomed singer Luke Bryan to our airwaves as this week’s co-host for the Superstar Power Hour on all your favorite RADIO.COM Country stations nationwide.

"I can only exercise and re-line fishing poles for so long," Luke tells Katie, thinking back on the extended time at home he's been facing along with the rest of us. Getting a chance to do interviews to promote his upcoming deluxe album release and a new season of American Idol "feels like work," he says. "It's fun!"

When he's not out performing his duties on American Idol, the experience at home in Tennessee during the pandemic has given Luke a chance to get in some quality time with his boys on the basketball court, as well as a good amount of downtime with his wife Caroline, and duck hunting with his pup Choc -- who kindly made an appearance during our video chat.

Kidding aside, Luke acknowledged how blessed he is to be able to continue filming Idol. "You don't want to complain. Because at least I can go out there and have some work. I've had to get COVID tested a couple of times a week... If it's what the show needs to make sure everybody's safe and doing the right stuff, I don't have any problem with it. It's been amazing watching the production of 'Idol' come together and all the protocols to make the show happen."

"There will be tangible things that will be different," Luke admits about the new normal of filming. "Historically me, and Lionel, and Katy -- if a kid is out there and they're pretty emotional -- we have always been really good about going and lovin' on 'em and helping 'em through. So, that's a different sensation."

Bryan's new single "Down To One," comes as one of six bonus tracks on the deluxe release of his 2020 album Born Here Live Here Die Here hitting shelves and streaming services on April 9. His favorite thing about the track, written by Dallas Davidson, besides the melody and its hit potential, was how his wife Caroline responded to it. "She was pretty adamant about that single," he laughed. His sons Bo and Tatum also provide a perfect focus-group when he's considering his singles. "Children... they'll insult me and they don't even realize they're insulting me and that tells me all I need to know."

Choosing another favorite on the deluxe release proved difficult; "It's a three-way tie, heck maybe even a four-way tie," Luke says. "I'm really excited for people to hear 'Waves,' 'Up' ... I wrote a song called 'Bill Dance.' I don't know if you know who Bill Dance is but he's a historic, famous bass fisherman... and then there's another song called "Prayin' in a Deer Stand' that really means a lot to me. I feel like these six songs really tell a great story of where I'm at in my career right now. I'm really lovin' the outdoors!"

After seven albums and 25 massive hits, Luke's very first number-one single, 2009's "Do I," some may not be aware was co-written with Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady A. "Writing your first number one with Charles Kelley... if I could do it all over again I might have done it with just me and Dave," Bryan said jokingly. "Now Charles and I are joined at the hip forever and that comes with severe consequences."

"To really share that moment with two fellow Georgia boys... Lady A was just getting their career going when we wrote 'Do I,' so it was big moments in our career, big things that really meant a lot to us. I was very proud to be a part of it with them," says Luke.
