Jodie Sweetin became a television star at a young age on “Full House,” and believes she knows how to predict when a child actor will encounter serious life issues.
According to Sweetin, it’s all about looking at their parents.
“When you see the kids that grew up in this business that turned out to be fairly normal, well-rounded people, they all have really normal parents, who didn’t want to be in the business themselves,” she told TODAY.
The actor said things get messy when some parents push their own unrealized dreams onto these kids.
“They’re like, ‘I tried to be famous, but it didn’t work out, so now it’s your turn,’” she said. She also claimed people have told her, “I had a kid because I wanted them to be famous.”
Sweetin has been open in the past on her struggles with addiction, claiming she began drinking at 14-years-old after “Full House” ended its run. She has said addiction to crystal meth and other drugs followed.
The actor has been sober since 2011, and is now a certified drug and alcohol counselor.
