“I met Jelly Roll back in 2013, I believe,” Lainey told Audacy’s Mo & StyckMan. “Him and Uncle Kracker were doin’ a music video together. They needed some girls to come for the whole day to be extras in the music video and I was a drunk girl. He said he’d pay me $100 and I never got paid.”
Clearly both strapped for cash back in the day, Lainey is looking for payment now that Jelly Roll has experienced major cross-genre success.
“I never got paid, but I’ll tell you what — he gon’ pay up now,” she laughed.
The blasts from the past don’t stop there as Jelly Roll recently revisited his connection with Uncle Kracker appearing on an interpolated version of his song, “Drift Away.” The new take on the song is a collaboration appearing on Dustin Lynch’s new album, Killed The Cowboy, that features all new lyrics to the highly-recognizable song penned by Mentor Williams.
