According to Broadway World, a new musical titled, Coal Miner's Daughter, is headed to the stage and will star Broadway actor, Sutton Foster. The play will be based on the film and book of the same title, while extending beyond the timeline presented in both.

Involved in the creation of the musical are people close to Lynn including her daughter, Patsy Lynn, who is a contributing producer in addition to Lynn’s manager, Nancy Russell. Miss. Loretta also reportedly had some say in the beginning stages of the project’s creation before her death in October 2022.

"As one of the last creative projects our mom was so passionate about, we are thankful that she had the opportunity to experience the initial stagings of Sutton's sincere portrayal of Loretta," a statement from Lynn's family states. "Mom absolutely fell in love with her and thought she was just the right person to play her onstage."

Lynn first announced The Coal Miner's Daughter musical from Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium stage in 2012, the same year the project was put in motion. No word yet on a possible premiere date or when tickets will be available. Stay tuned.
