The Packers made waves in Round 2 of the NFL Draft on Friday, when they traded up -- and used the pick to select a much-needed target for star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The reigning two-time MVP was a trending topic on social media after Green Bay nabbed North Dakota State wide receiver Christian Watson, an impressive-looking prospect who some draft gurus predicted might sneak into the first round.

Instead the Packers selected him with their third pick of this draft, after taking a pair of Georgia defensive standouts -- linebacker Quay Walker and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt -- in the first round on Thursday night.

Although Walker and Wyatt were both highly rated prospects, the Packers' usual strategy of drafting non-skill players in the first round continued to be a talking point on social media, especially given the team's apparent lack of elite pass-catchers following the trade that sent Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders.

For many football fans and observers, the Packers' merciful acquisition of a new weapon for Rodgers couldn't come soon enough.
