The New York Giants have been not been pleasant to deal with during Tom Brady's career, but that is not stopping the New England Patriots quarterback from inspiring one of the team's best players.

Saquon Barkley, who was the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year last season, met Brady at the Met Gala earlier this year and it turned out to be life-changing for the Giants running back.

Barkley said recently Brady issued him a challenge that had him “ready to run through a brick wall.”

"'It's great to do it for one season, but can you do it for five? Can you do it for 10?'" Barkley recalls Brady telling him. "I'm standing there at the Met Gala ready to run through a brick wall."

Barkley posted a photo with Brady at the Met Gala to his Instagram.

“Sometimes you take it for granted,” Barkley continued. “But to able to talk to legends that you’ve been watching for a very long time? Every day I talk one to one with Eli [Manning]. You don’t really take the time to cherish it. You are so caught up in the moment. Sometimes, you have to take a step back.”

Brady certainly knows a thing or two about being great. The 42-year-old is coming back for another season after winning his sixth career Super Bowl.

The Giants and the Patriots will meet on Thursday night for the final preseason game.

Neither Brady nor Barkley will play, but the two will meet during the regular season when the Giants head to New England for a Thursday Night Football game in Week 6.

If the two meet again after that, well, Brady better hope his advice does not come back to haunt him.
