Miami Dolphins superstar receiver Tyreek Hill raised eyebrows across the NFL last month during OTAs, when he lauded Tua Tagovailoa's accuracy and called the quarterback's passes "one of the prettiest balls" he's ever seen. And as if Hill needed to take his hype-man role to a new level, he recently offered more praise on his podcast, arguing that, in terms of accuracy, Tagovailoa is actually better than his former Kansas City Chiefs teammate, Patrick Mahomes.
Hill, who was traded to Miami this offseason and received a massive four-year, $120 million contract extension from the team, thrived while playing alongside Mahomes. In 2021, the 28-year-old amassed a Chiefs-record 111 receptions for 1,239 yards with nine touchdowns, and according to ESPN, Hill's racked up 26 scores on passes thrown 20-plus yards downfield over the past five seasons. Interestingly enough, Mahomes completed 66.1-percent of passes from 2017-2021, and since 2020, Tagovailoa's mark sits at 66.2-percent.
"Tyreek Hill is a guy who likes to take that short pass to the house. So, maybe there's a kernel of truth there," Andrew Perloff said during Maggie and Perloff on Monday. "Maybe he doesn't like Mahomes being the big star -- scrambling around, throwing downfield... When you think of what his best attribute is, it's not accuracy... I just don't see [the Dolphins] anywhere near as dynamic of an offense... I can't see Hill putting them over the top."
"The one thing about Mahomes and why he's one of the best -- or maybe the best quarterback in the NFL now -- is that he can actually do both," Gray said. "He has a huge arm. He can scramble, and make plays happen. But he's also accurate. You have to pick your poison with Mahomes... I think where you're going to see Hill and his biggest impact is with Miami. I think they're going to be a playoff team this year, even in a stacked AFC... I said it, I'm sticking by it."
