Two days after turning their second triple play of the season, Aroldis Chapman induced a ground ball to third base from Oakland Athletics catcher Sean Murphy. Gio Urshela stepped on third base and fired to second base, starting a game-ending triple play:
Chapman had walked the first two batters of the inning, so this triple play potentially saved the six-time All-Star from blowing a 2-1 lead. It was the first time that a triple play was turned in the ninth inning of a one-run game in decades:
With the win, the Yankees took two out of three from the A's, and improved to 38-33 on the season.
