The artist with songs like “Space Oddity,” “Starman,” “Moonage Daydream,” “Life on Mars?,” “Dancing out in Space,” and “Born in a UFO” has finally launched into orbit and found his home in outer space.

Earlier this week, the U.K.’s Royal Mint sent a specially made coin of the late David Bowie into space. The one ounce silver proof coin traveled for 45 minutes and reached an out-of-this-world altitude of 116,982 feet before descending back down to Earth.

According to the BBC, the Royal Mint designed the coin based on inspiration from Bowie’s time living and recording in Berlin. Featuring Bowie in a leather jacket, the coin has his iconic lighting bolt from Aladdin Sane adorned across the center of it.

The coin has another otherworldly feature as the special edition coins look like they’re laced with stardust creating a glittering effect.

"In recognition of Bowie's first hit single 'Space Oddity,' we felt it was fitting to send his coin into space and celebrate the Starman in his own pioneering fashion," Royal Mint spokeswoman Clare Maclennan told the BBC.

"David Bowie's music has inspired and influenced generations of musicians and we hope this commemorative coin will be cherished by fans around the world."

The coin is just the latest commemoration to the Thin White Duke as an all-star group of artists was recently announced for a tribute concert celebrating Bowie’s birthday.

On January 8, 2021, Trent Reznor, Perry Farrell, Macy Gray, Billy Corgan, Gary Oldman, Gavin Rossdale, Bernard Fowler, Corey Glover, Lzzy Hale, and many more will gather alongside numerous alumni from Bowie’s touring band to play some of his biggest and most important songs.
