Army Criminal Investigation Command has increased the reward for information regarding missing Fort Hood soldier Pvt. Richard Halliday.
Halliday, 21, was last seen on July 23rd leaving his Fort Bliss barracks room wearing gray or turquoise cargo shorts, a gray T-shirt, and a charcoal gray zip-up hoodie. While foul play is not suspected, according to Army CID, interviews with dozens of military personnel, friends, and family have yielded no results.
Now, Army CID is offering $25,000 for information leading to Halliday's whereabouts.
Army CID conducted an "in-depth forensic search" of Halliday's barracks room and found no signs of foul play or suspicious activity. Agents have also searched more than 80 other barracks rooms and conducted interviews with homeowners in conjunction with local law enforcement. Dozens of special agents also searched an approximately six square mile radius using his unit as the center point. The search included sinkholes, water drainages, water sewage systems, water canals, railroad tracks (on and off-post), and associated buildings. More recently, agents joined soldiers and volunteers in searching approximately 20 miles of trails in the Franklin Mountain State Park and Indian Peak Trail near Fort Bliss.
"We take this very seriously and a host of other investigative techniques have been employed in the search for Pvt. Halliday and we will continue to investigate until we determine what happened to this Soldier,” said Chris Grey, spokesman for Army CID. “If anyone has any information, we ask you to come forward and share it with us.”
Halliday is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 162 pounds.
