Army cadence is a reflection of the service's history. Nowadays it may be a little more politically correct, but you might still hear some Jody cadence called on the back roads of military bases.
Cadences are replete with references to past battles in places like Bastogne and appeals to paratrooper culture. Most infantrymen are no doubt familiar with these cadences, calling them at places like Ardennes street on Fort Bragg while running in formation. Everyone knows the Airborne Ranger cadence for example:
"C-130 Rollin' Down the Strip, 64 Rangers on a one-way trip.
Mission Top Secret, destination unknown."
Now the Army is calling a new cadence that is reflective of the time that our soldiers are living through. It is a COVID cadence that is a little true, a little funny and kinda sad all at the same time.
"CO-RO-NA
COVID-19
Ruined BCT for me
Now they won't let me leave
We used to eat DEFAC
Then they took it back
But the Army cares for me
Hot As and MREs
CO-RO-NA
COVID-19
Ruined BCT for me
Now they won't let me leave
We had formation once
Dress right right and front
Then corona came to town
Six feet all around
CO-RO-NA
COVID-19
Ruined BCT for me
Now they won't let me leave
I had drill sergeants three
They used to frighten me
Now coronas going around
Now they're all skipping town
CO-RO-NA
COVID-19
Ruined BCT for me
Now they won't let me leave
Looked forward to family day
Then they took it away
If your mood ruined too
You can be battle boo
CO-RO-NA
COVID-19
Ruined BCT for me
Now they won't let me leave
I had a ship date
Then they got delayed
Looks like I'll be stuck here
Probably whole career
CO-RO-NA
COVID-19
Ruined BCT for me
Now they won't let me leave/"
