Soldier's death ruled murder, $15,000 reward for information

Army officials are now calling the death of a Fort Bragg soldier murder, and $15,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.  

The partial remains of Spc. Enrique Roman-Martinez, 21, were found near the Cape Lookout National Seashore in North Carolina on May 29, according to an Army Criminal Investigation Command press release. 

Roman-Martinez’s identity was confirmed through his dental records, the release states. His remains washed up on Shackleford Banks Island in a spot where other bodies have also been washed ashore in the past.

A paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, Roman-Martinez was last seen near a campsite near Mile Marker 46 on May 22. He was reported missing by friends the next evening. 

He was last seen wearing blue shorts and no shirt, the release read. Roman-Martinez’s wallet and phone were located at the campsite.

Citing the ongoing investigation, CID did not release any further information on the case. Those with information can call  910-396-8777 or 910-396-1179.
