EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island police say a U.S. Army gold ring lost by its owner two years ago has been returned.

East Providence police posted on Facebook on Saturday that the ring was turned in by someone who found it.

The only clue as to who owned it was the name “Ronald” inscribed on the inside.

Police said they wanted to find Ronald or his family because they are sure the ring had some sentimental value.

On Monday, police announced that the ring had been returned to the veteran who lost it and it had been missing for at least 2 years.

Police say “the owner wished to express his sincere gratitude” to all involved.

No names were released.
