Air Force C-130 overruns airstrip in Iraq, injures 4

An Air Force C-130H overran the runway it was landing on at Camp Taji, Iraq on the evening of June 8, leaving four injured.

After running off the runway, the aircraft struck a wall causing damage to the aircraft and igniting a small fire on board, according to a press release from CENTCOM.


The, "fire and rescue team were on the scene within 4 minutes, extinguished the fire, and assisted an evacuation of the plane," according to DoD. Four service members received non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at the local medical facility on Camp Taji. Enemy activity is not suspected to be involved although the incident is still under investigation.

Stars and Stripes reported that there were 26 passengers on board the aircraft during the crash and that the two pilots were among those injured.
