Shooting, stabbing at Camp Lejeune leaves one dead

Camp Lejeune officials are investigating a shooting that left one man dead early Saturday.

A second man who was at the scene is being treated for multiple stab wounds, according to a release from the North Carolina Marine base.  

Base spokesman Nat Fahy said patrol officers responded to a 911 call at an on-base residence around 4 a.m., Military.com reported. When they arrived, they discovered both victims.

The man who had been shot was dead, while the man who had been stabbed was seriously injured, according to WNCT. Fahy would not say if either of the men were in the Marines.

The man who was stabbed was taken to the base hospital, where he is receiving treatment for his injuries. Fahy said no one else is believed to be at-large who was involved.

The incident is under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
