I am what you might call a podcast connoisseur. That is to say that I’m pretty obsessed with podcasts. I currently produce several podcasts, host several podcasts, and I spend a large part of my day listening to podcasts.
You may not be as podcast crazy as I am, in fact, I hope you’re not. I once sat in my driveway for an hour to finish Hardcore History. Okay, that’s a lie, it wasn’t just once, I’ve done that several times because some shows need to be finished! They’re too good to just turn off your car and wait till your next commute to be able to listen to.
But, I have a problem. Not the obsession part, but a problem with finding good shows. Now there are several sites that give you the top 10, top 20 podcasts people are listening to and some podcast players have fancy algorithms that will direct you to what’s hot in the podcast world, but sometimes you want something really niche. For me, that niche is Veteran podcasts. I like hearing from folks with similar experiences as me, talk about the world of military service from different angles. Funny war stories, thoughtful commentary, and sometimes just regular conversations or topics seen through a veteran lens. Now here’s the problem...where do you find them?
I’ll tell you where you find them, right here at connectingvets.com. I’ve taken it upon myself to be your Veteran Podcast sherpa, your audio guide into the world of Veteran podcasts. Now, you can go look for yourself, venture into the badlands of podcasting. Good luck with that. Sifting through random podcasts is like watching the local cable access channel. You’ll occasionally get lucky with some poorly taped talk show of a possibly homeless person interviewing a pack of wild dogs but for the most part, it’s going to be a low-quality borefest. So instead of trying to do this on your own, we did the work for you, you’re welcome.
We’ve teamed up with several Veteran podcasts to create a Podcast Stream from whence you can quench your podcast thirst from. That last line is to see if my editor is actually reading this. (I am) The shows we bring to you are podcasts we think you’ll really enjoy, from informative podcasts about the transition from the military to the civilian sector like Suit Soldier to taking you behind the scenes of the life of veteran and actor Vincent Vargas, in the Vinny Roc Podcast.
