
The Department of Defense has identified the three U.S. service members killed by an improvised explosive device while supporting Operation Resolute Support near Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan Monday.

The three service members were all Marines assigned to 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve:
Cpl. Robert A. Hendriks, 25, of Locust Valley, New York
Sgt. Benjamin S. Hines, 31, of York, Pennsylvania
Staff Sgt. Christopher K.A. Slutman, 43, of Newark, Delaware

Previously, the Defense Department announced one contractor was also killed in the attack but officials have now found the contractor, an Afghan citizen, who was reported as killed, is alive. The contractor was initially treated along with other injured civilians, but was later identified as a contractor and treated at Bagram Airfield.

The IED attack on a convoy also injured three other U.S. service members. Those individuals are currently receiving medical care.
This makes seven total U.S. service members who have been killed in action in Afghanistan since the beginning of 2019.
