During his third State of the Union address on Tuesday, President Donald Trump addressed topics ranging from illegal immigration to healthcare to the economy. But it was when he started discussing the military that former Marine Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., walked out of the chamber of the United States House of Representatives.

Trump spoke about the record-breaking $2.2 trillion his administration has invested in the United States military.
“We have purchased the finest planes, missiles, rockets, ships, and every other form of military equipment -- all made in the United States of America,” Trump said.
“I left the #SOTU after Trump—a draft dodger who has mocked Sen. John McCain, Gold Star families, and soldiers with traumatic brain injury—started talking about the good he has done for our military,” Moulton said in a tweet after the speech concluded late last night.
Moulton's tweet refers to several instances throughout Trump's administration.
During the weeks following the Iranian missile strike on Jan. 8, the number of injuries sustained from the blast went from 0 to 64. When asked why he did not disclose these injuries initially, Trump answered that he did not believe traumatic brain injuries were “very serious.”

During a 2015 campaign appearance, Trump also notably referred to the late Sen. John McCain’s status as a Prisoner of War saying, “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
Moulton joined the Marines in 2001, days after graduating from college and just months before the attacks on 9/11. He led one of the first infantry platoons into Baghdad in 2003. He went on to complete three more tours in Iraq.
While Moulton left and other Democrats in the chamber declined to applaud, the Republicans in attendance gave Trump’s military investments a standing ovation.
