While some say it's been a "ruff" road to get here, the Marine Corps' official mascot, Chesty XV, was officially promoted from private first class to lance corporal on August 1, 2019, at Marine Barracks Washington D.C.
At only one and a half years old, the youngest Marine Corps lance corporal enlisted on March 19, 2018, and became the official mascot of the Marine Corps on August 25, 2018.
As the 15th Chesty, Lance Corporal Chesty XV is carrying on 61 years of tradition — Chesty I enlisted in 1957 and was named for Lt. Gen. Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller, Jr., according to the American Kennel Club.
This most recent Chesty was pinned on by Marine Barracks Washington Commanding Officer Col. Donald J. Tomich and Marine Barracks Washington Sergeant Major Adrian L. Tagliere.

Congrats, Lance Corporal!
