The coronavirus pandemic is bringing Christmas early to some kids this year.
The Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation recently announced it's sending 2 million toys and books to children in need who are confined to their homes due to the pandemic.
In partnership with Good360, the toys and books are being distributed through a network of vetted non-profit partners.
Toys for Tots began in 1947 in Los Angeles, California when Reserve Maj. Bill Hendricks and his Marines collected and delivered toys to war orphans and less fortunate kids.
“We don’t want to wait until next holiday season to lessen the fear and anxiety of our children,” said retired Marine Lt. Gen. James B. Laster, president and CEO of the foundation.
