Another day, another rocket launcher at the airport

Oops.

For the second time this week, the bomb squad at Baltimore Washington International Airport has seized a military rocket launcher that a service member was bringing home as a souvenir.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal says the rocket launch tube was inert and empty of any explosives. It was brought back on a military flight by an Air Force sergeant, but it was confiscated before he connected to a commercial flight.

Despite the launch tube presenting no threat, they didn't let him check the tube through -- because there is a slight risk that the tube contained pressurized gas.

And you simply can't bring rocket launchers on commercial airlines.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal's Bomb Squad took possession of the launch tube until it can be safely returned to the owner.

Meaning, he'll get it back. Eventually.

This is the second launch tube that's been seized in the past week at BWI Airport.

The Fire Marshall and TSA are reminding military personnel that, although they may want to bring home mementos from their tours, they ought to know the regulations for commercial flights versus military flights, which clearly states rocket launchers aren't allowed.
