Last year, the Department of Veterans Affairs updated its policy for veterans' voter registration activities to ensure that every service member who defended the right to democracy has the ability to vote. Veterans cared for at VA medical facilities are allowed to leave the hospital to register and vote (subject to health care providers opinion) and patients that can't leave the facility must be assisted to register and vote by absentee ballot.
