One of the nation's top VA mortgage lenders has announced that veterans and service members can now sign closing documents without having a notary public agent enter their home.
NewDay USA’s "SafeClose" service allows notaries to verify a borrower’s signature from a safe distance outside the borrower's home.
“This is yet another way we are making a real difference in the lives of veteran families during this critical time in our nation,” said NewDay USA Founder and CEO Rob Posner in a release.
SafeClose is a
three-step process. - The loan documents are viewed and electronically signed on the veterans' home computer.
- Documents requiring the veteran to sign in the presence of a notary are delivered to the front door for signature. The veteran must be able to be seen signing the documents.
- The signature is then verified and notarized at a safe distance.
“With our eSign capabilities, veteran borrowers can also complete almost all of their mortgage documents online, which saves time and also reduces further person-to-person contact,” said retired Adm. TomLynch, NewDay USA executive chairman.
SafeClose can also be used by those who are seeking to refinance their existing VA mortgages.
